6. Hartmut Geerkn says: "The initials of the names Sun Ra and Salah Ragab communicate with each other. Sun Ra was attracted by such connotations."

7. Salah Ragab, a drummer and percussionist, was a major in the Egyptian army in the late 60's and early 70's being in charge of the Military Music Department. In 1967, Hartmut Geerken introduced him to the music of Sun Ra. Besides Leah Ananda (Kashmir) and Talvin Singh (British Indian), also percussionists, he is the only non-Afro-American musician, who worked with the Arkestra.
